Terms of Service

You must be at least 16 years old to use CareerWell. You are responsible for:

• Keeping your login credentials secure
• All activity that happens under your account
• Providing accurate signup information

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts for violations of these terms, abuse, or fraud.

CareerWell offers a Free tier and a Pro tier ($9 monthly or $90 yearly). Payments are processed by Stripe; we never store your card details on our servers. By starting a paid subscription you authorize us to charge your payment method on a recurring basis until you cancel.

You can cancel anytime from your billing settings. On cancellation, your Pro access continues until the end of the current billing period; we do not pro-rate refunds for unused time within a period.

Pro Trial offers 7 days of metered Pro access (up to 10 AI evaluations and 5 tailored documents) at no charge. A payment method is required to start the trial. If you don't cancel before the trial ends, your card is charged automatically for the regular Pro subscription.

One free trial per customer, per account. Attempting to start multiple trials under different email addresses to bypass this limit violates these terms and may result in account suspension.

Charges are generally non-refundable. If you believe you were charged in error, email support@careerwell.app within 14 days of the charge and we'll review. EU/UK customers have statutory rights to a refund within 14 days of subscribing (consumer cooling-off period) where applicable; we honour these.

You retain ownership of everything you put into the Service: your CV, job descriptions you paste, application data, AI-generated documents. You grant us a limited license to store, process, and display this content solely to provide the Service to you.

You can export or delete your data at any time. Account deletion permanently removes your personal data within 30 days (see Privacy Policy for retention details).

CareerWell uses AI (Anthropic's Claude) to generate evaluations and tailored documents. AI output:

• May contain factual errors or misjudgements
• Should always be reviewed by you before submission to employers
• Is generated based ONLY on your master CV and the job description you provide; we instruct the AI not to invent experience you don't have

You are responsible for verifying the accuracy of AI-generated content before using it in real applications. We are not liable for outcomes (or lack thereof) that result from AI-generated content.

You agree NOT to:

• Use the Service to send spam, harassment, or unsolicited mass outreach
• Submit fabricated CVs or knowingly false applications to employers
• Scrape, reverse-engineer, or attempt to bypass rate limits
• Resell or sublicense the Service
• Use the Service in violation of any applicable law

The CareerWell name, brand, UI, and software are our intellectual property. The underlying methodology (job evaluation framework, application tracker schema, scanner approach) is derived from the open-source career-ops project by Santiago Fernández de Valderrama, used under the MIT License. See ATTRIBUTION.md in our repository for details.

The Service is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We don't guarantee that using CareerWell will help you land a job, that AI evaluations are accurate, or that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for any claim arising from your use of the Service is capped at the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or (b) $50 USD.

We are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages, including lost profits, missed job offers, or reputational harm.

You can close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your account if you breach these terms, abuse the Service, or for other lawful business reasons (e.g., long inactivity, payment failure). On termination, your right to use the Service ends; your data is removed per the Privacy Policy.

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes will be resolved in the courts of the United Kingdom, unless your local consumer law gives you the right to sue in your home jurisdiction.

We may update these terms. Material changes will be announced on the website and by email. Continued use of the Service after a change indicates acceptance.
